Mode is the most common item of a series. Generally it is the value which occurs the largest number of times in a series. In the words of Croxton and Cawden. "The mode of a distribution is the value around which the items tend to be most heavily concentrated
According to A.M Tuttle 'Mode is the value which has the greatest frequency density in its immediate neighbourhood' .
Mode is the value in the dataset that appears repeatedly most of the times. Sometimes the system may be bimodal.
Example: Find the mode of the following data showing weights of 10 students in pounds.
130, 140,152,148,130,139,148,130,137,160.
In the above dataset 130 appears thrice,148 appears twice and all other numbers appear only once.So the mode is 130.
