Information Technology

Information technology is the use of computers and software to manage information. In some companies, this is referred to as Management Information Services (or MIS) or simply as Information Services (or IS). The information technology department of a large company would be responsible for storing information, protecting information, processing the information, transmitting the information as necessary, and later retrieving information as necessary. The Indian information technology (IT) industry has played a key role in putting India on the global map.

E-Commerce : In its simplest form ecommerce is the buying and selling of products and services by businesses and consumers over the Internet. People use the term "ecommerce" to describe encrypted payments on the Internet. Sometimes these transactions include the real-time transfer of funds from buyer to seller and sometimes this is handled manually through an eft-pos terminal once a secure order is received by the merchant. Electronic business transactions involving money are "E-Commerce" activities.Internet sales are increasing rapidly as consumers take advantage of lower prices offer by wholesalers retailing their products. This trend is set to strengthen as web sites address consumer security and privacy concerns.

E-business : E- Business goes far beyond ecommerce or buying and selling over the Internet, and deep into the processes and cultures of an enterprise. E-business involves marketing, procurement and customer education? Even to sell on-line successfully, much more is required than merely having a website that accepts credit cards. We need to have a web site that people want to visit, accurate catalogue information and good logistics. For selling online successfully one needs to know basics of website development. It also involves servicing customers and collaborating with business partners.

ERP :  Enterprise Resource Planning, a business management system that integrates all facets of the business, including planning, manufacturing, sales, and marketing. As the ERP methodology has become more popular, software applications have emerged to help business managers implement ERP in business activities such as inventory control, order tracking, customer service, finance and human resources. ERP systems can run on a variety of hardware and network configurations, typically employing a database as a repository for information.
